Por un lado, nos proporcionan información detallada para comprender la situación y poder buscar soluciones. Por otro, sirven para poner en marcha soluciones que nos ayuden a concienciarnos y disminuir nuestra huella ambiental.
En su informe “The Economic Impact of Open Data Opportunities for value creation in Europe”, el European Data Portal resalta que los datos pueden “contribuir a reducir el consumo total de energía en Europa, aumentar el uso de fuentes de energía sostenibles, proteger la biodiversidad y aumentar la conciencia sobre las emisiones de CO2”, así como generar un impacto económico de alrededor de 1.000 millones de euros.
